Behind every story and every character in It’s a Kidzz World, there are real people building it—one step at a time. We’re Dawn and David, and we created It’s a Kidzz World because we believe childhood should come with belonging, compassion, and room to grow exactly as you are along with the freedom to create how and what you are inspired to create.
Our Family, Our Perspective
We’re a husband-and-wife team, and our work is shaped by lived experience—disability, neurodiversity, and the hard-earned resilience that comes from navigating life when the “normal path” doesn’t fit. We’ve learned that the most powerful kind of inclusion isn’t performative. It’s practical. It’s human. And it starts with how we communicate with children—through stories, characters, and creativity.
It’s a Kidzz World is our way of turning what we’ve lived through into something that helps kids feel safe, understood, and empowered.
Dawn’s Heart for Storytelling
Dawn has always been drawn to the emotional world of children—feelings, growth, self-awareness, and the quiet courage it takes to be different. Her creative vision is gentle but strong: stories that don’t talk down to kids, and characters that make space for every kind of child to feel included.
When Dawn creates, she isn’t just writing a “cute story.” She’s building a safe place a child can step into—where sensory differences, big emotions, and unique personalities aren’t problems to fix. They’re part of the beauty.
David’s Builder Mindset
David is the systems-and-structure half of the team—the one who turns big ideas into real-world steps. From websites and outreach to planning and partnerships, he focuses on building It’s a Kidzz World in a way that can grow into something lasting: more stories, more creators, more community, and eventually, real spaces designed to help kids thrive.
Together, we keep It’s a Kidzz World grounded in both heart and practicality: creativity that feels good, and structure that makes it sustainable.
We’re still building It’s a Kidzz World, and we’re doing it in the open—learning, improving, and inviting community along the way. If you’re a parent, grandparent, educator, illustrator, partner, or just someone who believes kids deserve better stories and better spaces, we’re grateful you found us. This world is for the kids—and it’s for the people who care about them, too.
